What sets these chickens apart is not just their striking eggs but also their incredible foraging skills. They eagerly roam my yard, diligently hunting for insects and other delectable treats, which not only benefits them but also contributes to a healthier environment for my garden.
One of the most remarkable features of cream legbars is their talent for eluding predators. They possess a natural ability to blend seamlessly into their surroundings, keeping themselves safe from harm.
From Wikipedia: The Legbar was bred as an auto-sexing layer breed. This means that you can tell the sex of the chickens at hatching by color of the chick. Hens may give 180, light blue or even green, eggs or more per year. The Legbar is a rare British auto-sexing breed of chicken. It was created in the early twentieth century by Reginald Crundall Punnett and Michael Pease at the Genetical Institute of Cambridge University. They cross-bred American barred Plymouth Rock birds with brown Leghorns and created the gold and silver color varieties. Pease created a cream Legbar by cross-breeding these with white Leghorns; later crossing with Araucanas caused this to have a crest and to lay blue or blue-green eggs.
Whether you're an experienced chicken enthusiast or new to the world of poultry, these Cream Legbar Chickens are sure to captivate you with their stunning blue eggs, foraging expertise, and adaptability to their environment.
